BACKGROUND

Dr. Robert Sheridan is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and lifelong servant-leader shaped by the values of duty, integrity, and community. Raised in a family where service was a daily expectation—instilled by his father and shared among six children—Robert has carried that commitment throughout every chapter of his life. After serving his country for 20 years, including a tour in Iraq as a medic, he continued his dedication as a long-time federal contracting officer, supporting missions across the Department of Defense. Today, he brings that same spirit of service to Schertz, a proud military town he has called home for over a decade. As a community volunteer, youth sports leader, and Parks & Recreation Board Vice Chair, Robert’s life reflects a consistent belief: service isn’t something you do once—it’s who you are.

PRIORITIES & VISION

Dr. Sheridan's vision for Schertz is centered around the key priorities of first responders, infrastructure, economic development, quality of life, and sustainable community growth. His goal is to foster an inclusive environment that values the input of local residents and focuses on enhancing the overall well-being of the community. With a thriving career in public service and a deep understanding of local governance, Dr. Sheridan is well-equipped to drive positive change and invest in Schertz's future.

Experience in Federal Service

As a former federal contracting officer, I spent many years managing complex, multimillion-dollar contracts that supported critical missions and services. I worked for 12 years with the Specialized Contracting Unit at Randolph, where my role involved careful negotiation, detailed analysis, and close coordination with diverse stakeholders to ensure contracts were executed fairly, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal regulations. Throughout my career, I have been responsible for protecting taxpayer resources, resolving challenges, and making decisions with long-term impact in mind. In recognition of my performance and dedication to public service, I was awarded the Air Force Civilian Achievement Medal, which reflects my commitment to excellence, transparency, and accountability in every role I have served.

Additionally, I spent five years with the Department of the Army, Contracting Support Brigade, as a Contracting Officer and Division Chief at JBSA Fort Sam Houston. I led a diverse team of active-duty soldiers and civilian professionals in acquisition roles supporting humanitarian assistance and training missions across Central and South America and the Caribbean. My duties included planning and executing contingency contracting exercises, assessing teams to prepare future contracting officers and specialists for deployment, and supporting multinational operations focused on security cooperation and regional stability. I regularly communicated with partner-nation government and military leaders to explain and coordinate U.S. government acquisition processes, thereby strengthening alliances and shared operational understanding. In recognition of my leadership, performance, and impact, I was awarded the Army Civilian Achievement Medal.
